About Sam

Sam Barge is a vocalist and composer from the opposite corner of the country. Raised in Georgia, singing, composing and musical directing have been his greatest passions. In high school, he composed the music for a full-length musical that was performed in Atlanta and New York by Broadway and television actors. He earned his Bachelor of Music degree from UNC-Chapel Hill with a focus in classical voice performance, and served as the musical director and arranger for his a cappella group, the UNC Achordants.
On a summer abroad in Tanzania, he started a music program at a local school and orphanage, and later founded Global Music Outreach, a UNC-based organization which provides the resources to continue the program under a local Tanzanian teacher’s instruction. In 2016, he moved to Yakima, WA, to teach music to at-risk youth through Yakima Music en Acción. The Valley has been a superbly welcoming place, and he feels fortunate to keep spreading the arts in his new community.
